Ariel Coro has been nominated for the Tecla Awards for the third year in a row. Coro is a nationally-acclaimed tech expert and analyst, best-selling author and the most recognized technology expert for Hispanics in the United States.
“I’m honored to have been nominated once again for this prestigious Tecla Award. Technology is more integral than ever in our lives and our community needs all the resources we can leverage. The Tecla Awards recognize all the hard work that’s done daily and the continuous commitment and passion that it requires to propel people forward.” – said Coro.
As the top tech expert for Hispanics, his expertise reaches millions of households every week through TV, radio, print, the web and social media. Ariel is a regular contributor on CNN en Español and on Univision’s top national morning show Despierta América. He is also the host of Mundo Tec, a news segment that educates Hispanic families on the latest tech, gadgets, apps and automotive tech news. His first book, El Salto: Aprovecha las nuevas tecnologías y alcanza tu potencial was published by Random House Vintage Español. He is currently working on a sequel that will help many people reinvent themselves in the digital age.
Through his pervasive media appearances, Coro educates and creates awareness about important topics for Latino families such as: STEM education, how to leverage the latest technology advancements to succeed, the coolest gadgets on the planet and the never-ending task of protecting our children from the dangers of living in a connected world.
Ariel’s fascination for all things tech began at a very young age. He remembers, “I would always take apart and modify the very few toys I had as a kid back in Cuba.” He started learning computer programming at the age of 10, and even built his first computer at 15 out of old parts he could scramble together on the island. Coro arrived to the states at the age of 18 and pursuing his passion for technology, he worked for Cisco Systems and Check Point Software, where he consulted for a wide range of businesses including Fortune 500 companies and government entities.
During a previous acceptance speech at the Tecla Awards, he talked about the free flow of information and how mobile phones are the gateway to knowledge and power for millions of Hispanics. In fact, for many Hispanic families, their first internet connection is a mobile one.
