Apps and Gadgets to make 2020 the best year ever!

2020 apps new years resolutions - goals, plan, action with yellow background

2020 is just around the corner and the prospects are looking great. Tech is here to help us and it’s come a long way to make our lives better. I visited Univision’s Despierta America this morning to talk about some of the coolest apps and gadgets that make our lives better.

Better Health

Lifesum is the whole package if you are looking for an app to improve your health. I just recently started using it and I’m truly impressed.

For starters, it’s not a “diet” app, you can use it for dieting, but it feels more sensitive and not prohibitive. I liked that it allows you to choose your goal to be healthier, lose weight or even gain muscle. Once you add your information like height, weight, age, sex it then uses them to calculate the number of calories you should consume daily.

I like that it sends you reminders and has a quick system to keep track of the water you’ve consumed. Tracking meals is really simple, you just add what you are eating and the number of servings and it automatically tracks the nutritional information and the calories it contains and subtracts them from your daily amount. It rates your meal to tell you if you are staying on track and much more. Overall, I found it to be a very well thought-out and designed app that should help you with your health goals, whatever those may be. You can also now save 30% for a limited time on the monthly subscription at https://lifesum.com/

Building Wealth

Do you know how much money you spent on Amazon this year? A simple question, right? Not if you ask your bank. If you have more than one credit card or have ordered from different accounts, this simple question can become an Indiana-jones type of quest shuffling through online or potentially worse, paper statements.

Clarity Money will centralize your finances in one place so you get a big picture of what’s going on. What you earn, what you owe, what you spend and what you spend it on and much more. I like that it has a series of widgets that give you useful information at a glance such as recurring expenses, current subscriptions, cash on hand and how much credit card debt you have, if any.

I found it to be very useful to have a centralized dashboard for your finances and I think we’ll do better financially in 2020 by using this app. Clarity Money is free to use.

Raising bilingual kids

Being bilingual has been proven to be good for the brain and giving kids a second language at home is invaluable. Many families such as mine struggle for their kids to speak Spanish at home because they are surrounded by English everywhere, they go.

Studycat Fun Spanish is an app designed to help kids with their Spanish vocabulary, comprehension and pronunciation. How does it do it? By playing games. These games are a lot of fun, have over 200 words and numbers and are designed for kids to interact with them and learn while having fun.

Right now you can save 30% off the yearly subscription to Studycat Fun Spanish by using the code “2020”.

Drink more water

We all know that water is the healthiest drink kids can have but it’s not necessarily a lot of fun. The Gululu smart bottle and app are working to change that. The bottle has a cool screen and companion app. Kids choose the creature they want and to keep it healthy, they have to drink the recommended amount of water. Kids can connect with siblings or friends and as new features and characters are added, the smart bottle and apps are updated to reflect it to keep things fresh.

Right now, you can save 35% on the brand new Gululu bottle at https://www.mygululu.com/

Travel more

Comparing flights and hotels is nothing new but knowing when to book those flights and hotels can make all the difference. The Hopper app allows you to plan your trip, gives you plenty of options and most importantly, it tells you when to book your trip so you can save the maximum amount.  You can add a flight watch so you are notified as the ticket prices change and get notified when it’s the right time to buy. I also like that it has a deals feed that shows you pretty spectacular prices for destinations from your home airport. I found a trip to Chicago from Miami for just $77, the only problem is that it’s during February 6 – 10 and I might freeze with the Chicago winter temperatures. I’d rather stay in the 70s to 80s of our harsh Miami winter.

Rest and Relaxation

Last but not least, I showed the Dreampad Slim Pillow. They use a very ingenious technology to play music from the pillow. It’s compatible with Bluetooth so you could use its own app that comes with useful sleep tips and relaxing sounds that help you get better sleep. You can configure the app for the pillow to gently wake you up with soothing classical music so you are ready to face the day after a good night’s rest.

That’s all folks, I wish I had more time to talk gadgets and apps for the new year but on TV you only get the time you get. I hope you enjoy the gadgets, apps and take advantage of the seasonal savings. May you have a Healthy, Happy and Prosperous 2020!
