Revenge Porn is a trend that has arisen in recent years with the explosion of cell phone cameras and sites devoted to posting these photos. Coro recently visited Despierta America to provide helpful tips on how to protect your privacy and reputation online.

This is how it works: Your boyfriend or girlfriend asks you to take nude photos. A few days, weeks or months after you break up and everything appears normal until one day. That is the day you find your private photos posted on the Internet without your permission. Finding yourself in this situation can become a nightmare that can lead to not only losing your privacy, sense of self, friendships, but even your job. Here are some tips so you never find yourself in this situation or to try to remedy it if you've already become a victim:

  • Simply do not let take or let anyone voluntarily take compromising photos of you.
  • Do not send anyone nude photos, private or otherwise via any digital platform be it text, email, etc.
  • Do not delete your social media accounts like Facebook and Twitter. This will enable the sites containing these pictures to come up higher in search.
  • Make a detailed index of the site(s) that have your information, your URLs, dates of publication and take screen shots of everything from search results to articles as they appear.
  • If the photos belong to you, send the site's Webmaster or their legal department a request for violation of copyright infringement or DMCA. You can find more information on Google doing a search for the term "DMCA removal request template" or "copyright infringement notice example".
  • Create a Google Alert with your name or information that is appearing on the photos so you can be notified immediately if they are copied elsewhere and repeat the same process above with those sites as well.
  • Record your photos with the US Copyright Office so nobody can use them without your permission.
  • Consider consulting an attorney and filing a police report.
  • Send a request to remove the pictures because of copyright violation to search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing.

Many people think that using services like SnapChat protects them when they send nude photos and images. It has been proven that such photos and videos may be captured and shared. Usually, if a photo or video is in digital format, it can be reproduced endlessly easily and quickly, creating a problem for you that you may very well be fighting for the rest of your life. Try to maintain your privacy at all costs, you will only realize how valuable it is once you’ve lost it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gThcZcXBCuo
