Fortunately, by selling our old cell phone and taking advantage of all the easy payment terms, we can totally do so.But, how can we be sure that once our old cell phone gets into new hands that our information will be completely erased? With security and identity theft being such a high risk nowadays, you need to be extra careful.Ariel Coro, the most influential technology expert for the Latino community, tackled this delicate issue during his most recent participation in Univision´s Despierta America show.“With iPhones”, says Coro, “the first thing I recommend is to do a full back up to a trusted computer. This will store all the information that is now in your iPhone directly on your computer. After connecting the required cable from your iPhone to your computer, iTunes will open up and you can select where you want to store your information. Follow the step by step instructions and you will be done in a few minutes. Then, once you are ready to turn your iPhone in, you need to do the following last step to erase all your information from the device: In Settings, go to General and then to Reset. You will then see several options, choose “Erase all Content and Settings”. This will completely erase all data stored on your iPhone and leave it as new for the new user”.If you are clearing up an Android device, the process differs a bit. “Many Android cellphones have what is called a micro SD card”, says tech expert Coro. “This card is usually stored in the back of the cellphone. Once you take out the card, you might want to see what it has stored in it by reviewing its contents, once plugged into a computer. You can either choose to keep the card or clear it all up if you are going to return it with the cellphone. Once you are ready to hand in the phone, you need to go to Settings, Security, and click Encrypt Device. After you have proceeded with the encryption, go back to Settings, open Backup and Setup and choose Factory Data Reset. Now you are ready to turn your phone in and enjoy the new one”.Once you have your new device in your hands, all you need to do is plug it in to your computer and run the “Reset” option. This will restore all the information you previously stored on your computer to your new cellphone and you are all set to enjoy it.
