Based in Monterrey, Mexico, and founded by a group of businessmen in 1940, the Institute has expanded to 31 campuses in 25 cities throughout the country.Ariel Coro, renowned multi-platform Technology Expert and Analyst for Hispanics, was recently contacted by the Innovation Gym Laboratories at ITESM (Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey) campus Monterrey, México and invited to participate as a guest lecturer in their new electronic-toys workshop TOYS IN MOTION, targeted to ITESM students that, during a period of one month, created an interactive toy prototype. The workshop taught students about electronics, programming and digital manufacturing through video conferences and classes.Coro connected with the workshop students via video conference to talk about the new trends of 3D printing and its benefits, which range from building houses in record time to creating low cost prosthetic limbs. After assisting the students through online conferences and classes, and once the prototype had been developed, guest judges graded the final product and provided feedback to the participants. The toys were to be designed to create a high commercial, social or experimental impact.Subsequent workshops in the series will cover topics including parametric geometry, wearable devices and Internet of Things (IOT).“I was excited to collaborate in this new project”, said Coro. “Teaching young minds that are open to innovation and new ideas is always exciting. It is through sharing and collaborating with promising young talent that we maximize their potential to create and discover new things.”
