Tu Tecnologia is a multi-media platform created to educate Latinos about technology. It started as a TV segment and evolved into a nationally aired news segment.
Tu Tecnologia is a multi-media platform that was created with the mission of educating Latinos about all things technology in their language. Tu Tecnologia began as a TV segment airing in Univision's KMEX 34 Los Angeles, the number one newscast in the nation in any language and later evolved into a nationally aired news segment on radio and TV and the thriving online community and blog that it is today. The platform has also made strides in the print world since it is now featured as a weekly column in La Opinión, the number one Spanish daily in the United States and syndicated to Impremedia newspapers and magazines nationwide.
Ariel Coro, the leading Hispanic Technology Expert and one of the first technology journalists in Spanish in the United States, recognized the great need for the Hispanic community to learn about technology in their own language, in an entertaining and informative, but not overly technical manner. He conceived and named this initiative, Tu Tecnologia, which means Your Technology in Spanish.
From the very beginning Tu Tecnologia had a dual approach. Audiences embraced the segments on TV and the radio but due to time constraints and the lack of interactivity, people had questions that needed further answers. These questions ranged from how to get an education online to how to protect the family from Cyberthreats and Spanish-Speaking Latinos didn't know where to turn to. That's why Coro founded Tutecnologia.org, an online community which supports Hispanics on their quest for education and better understanding of technology. Tutecnologia.org has evolved from a social network into a social movement by using a crowdsourcing approach. Coro empowered the Tu Tecnologia community to interact on the site and help one another and the results speak for themselves, thousands of answers have been posted in the forums and many people found the personalized help they needed to solve their problems. In the spirit of true community, the blog is maintained by members and all the questions that are posted on the site are answered by volunteers worldwide that are subject matter experts.
